MarShawn Lloyd sends strong message to league ahead of taking Packers backfield

Green Bay's backfield has a new sheriff. 

With Josh Jacobs on the Commissioner's Exempt List, the Packers will be without their typical starter for now. 

That means MarShawn Lloyd, a third year rusher out of USC, is taking over. 

Lloyd has played in just one game since joining the NFL. He was a great player in college but is unproven at the highest level. 

He had a message to share with fans and opponents ahead of his debut as a starter. 

MarShawn Lloyd sends message ahead of week 1

It's MarShawn Lloyd's first week of practice as the go-to for Green Bay and he had a message to put out. 

“A lot of players don’t know me. They’ll watch my college tape, if anything. They won’t even know anything about me, won’t even worry about me. But they will eventually at some point this year," Lloyd said as reported by NBC 26's Kelly Hallinan.

Lloyd, who has a handful of NFL snaps under his belt, said what everyone was thinking. 

He's an unknown commodity. A player who once had high stock but has yet to prove it. 

In three years at USC, Lloyd racked up 1,621 rushing yards and 18 TD's. In the NFL? He's got 15 total yards. 

What Lloyd did pledge was that he will become a reliable option at running back. He says those player who don't know him now, "will eventually" know him.

It's a strong message spoken behind a curtain of subtlety. 

For fans of the Packers and Lloyd this is great news.
