Marlins drop a few spots in latest power rankings after a tough week

The Miami Marlins came into the season with their right foot forward. They got off to a solid start, and some were wondering if this team could be a surprise this season.

They kept themselves in the thick of things during April, but a bad May has them falling fast. They finished the month with an 11-18 record, which puts them at 27-34 on the year.

They have already dug quite a hole for themselves in the division. There may be no catching the Atlanta Braves, the best team in baseball, as the Marlins are already 13.5 games behind MLB's darling.

Marlins drop a few spots in latest power rankings after a tough week

Miami is coming off a rather disappointing week of baseball. They couldn't get much of anything going against the Toronto Blue Jays, losing the series 1-2.

They then took on the New York Mets, who have had their fair share of struggles this year, but it was much of the same for Miami here. They ended up getting swept in the three-game series over the weekend.

Last week, Bleacher Report's Joel Reuter ranked this team No. 21, but after the week they had, he has bumped them down a few spots to No. 25

"The Marlins lost Janson Junk and Eury Perez last week from a starting rotation that already ranks 29th in the majors with a 4.89 ERA. After getting outscored 25-9 while getting swept by the Mets over the weekend, things could get ugly quick in the coming weeks."

With the recent losses of Junk and Perez, there's not much hope left for this team. They certainly have their work cut out for them, but if things don't change soon, it will be another season where this team is sellers rather than buyers at the trade deadline.
