The Oklahoma City Thunder were the odds-on favorites to win the NBA championship for a lot of people before the 2026-27 season started. It has been a nightmare of a week for the Thunder because they have had three major injuries to key players.

Jalen Williams is out for the season with major lower-leg injuries, Cason Wallace could be out for the entire year with a torn labrum, and Chet Holmgren is sidelined for at least the next 8-10 weeks. It is certainly a time of adversity for OKC, as they will have to work through it for the rest of the season.

Mark Daigneault dives into how the Thunder will deal with this year's adversity

It has been quite a challenging season for the Thunder, which was evident during their latest loss to the Houston Rockets on Saturday. They would prefer to have a healthy roster, but they have to deal with their current situation.

Head coach Mark Daigneault has been handed all kinds of problems over the past few days, but he wants to be a great leader for the Thunder. He is ready to keep spearheading a positive approach, as he knows everyone will have to step up.

Both Daigneault and the Thunder have gone through so much over the years. That is why he is confident that the Thunder can bounce back amid the adversity and thrive once again.

"Adversity obviously tests you in terms of your discipline to your standards and discipline to walking the walk on things that you say are important to you. And it also tests your mettle. It forces you to persevere. It raises your standard," Daigneault said about the current situation in OKC.

"That’s worked well for us over time. But you’re only as good as you are in the challenge that you’re in, so we’ve got to do that now. This is a team that I have the utmost confidence in our ability to approach it the right way."

Daigneault continues to show why he is one of the best coaches in the league. He will want to roll with the punches and do his best to help his superstar Shai Gilgeous-Alexander lead the team to victory without his usual co-stars.
