Mariners reinstate J.P. Crawford ahead of upcoming road trip

On Friday night, the Seattle Mariners will begin their first road trip of the season as they are set to take on the Los Angeles Angels. They’ll go into the series off a 3-5 loss to the New York Yankees, which came despite a two RBI outing from Cal Raleigh and a multi-hit game for Dominic Canzone.

The Mariners’ infield gets a boost

It appears Seattle is set to get a boost for its upcoming slate of games, as the organization announced the reinstatement of J.P. Crawford from the 10-day injured list.

Roster Moves:

🔹 J.P. Crawford, INF, reinstated from 10-day Injured List (right shoulder inflammation).
🔹 Ryan Bliss, INF, optioned to Triple-A Tacoma (post-game April 1).
🔹 Ryan Loutos, RHP, placed on unconditional release waivers.

The 31-year-old was out of action due to inflammation in his right shoulder, which came up in spring training, limiting him to only appearing in seven games in which he’d slash .143 from the batter’s box.

If Crawford is to play on Friday night, it won’t be his first action since suffering the injury in Spring Training, as he was sent to Triple-A Tacoma Rainiers for rehab, with whom he’d make one appearance, where he’d go 0 for 4 with a walk and a strikeout to his name.

The former Gold Glove award winner will look to build on what was quite a productive 2025 season, when he hit for a .265/.352/.370 statline, while slugging 12 home runs and driving in 58 RBIs.

It’ll be a welcome addition to Seattle’s lineup, who have struggled to get going this season, posting the joint sixth-lowest batting average in the league (.205), sharing the spot with the Angels.

Elsewhere on the Mariners roster, infielder Ryan Bliss was optioned to Tacoma in order to make room for Crawford’s return. Bliss saw limited game time during the opening stretch of the season, failing to make it on base in both of his at-bats.

First pitch between the Mariners and Angels on Friday night is slated for 6:38 p.m. PST.
