The Boston Red Sox traded Rafael Devers to the San Francisco Giants almost a year ago.
And at the moment, both teams are sputtering.
The Giants rank last in baseball in runs scored through April 1, with 14.
In second-to-last place? The Red Sox, with 17.
One popular baseball account on X has called it 'The Curse of Rafael Devers':
The only team that has scored fewer runs than the Red Sox this season (17) is the Giants (14).

Of course, it's much too simplistic to just point this to being a Devers thing.
For the Giants, he's just one spot in a lineup of nine guys who are essentially all scuffling out of the gates this season.
The Red Sox may miss Devers, to an extent, but they've got a lot of strong bats, too. Maybe more costly for them is that they didn't bring Alex Bregman back in the offseason, which has led to trade acquisition Caleb Durbin playing third base -- and Durbin doesn't have a single hit yet this season.
Both teams were expected to contend toward the top of their respective divisions this season, so the lack of run scoring is certainly a concern.
Is it Devers' fault? Check back in six months. If the curse is strong enough, maybe it will continue.
