Mariners' Randy Arozarena joins Pete Crow-Armstrong with MLB history done 1 time before 2026

The Seattle Mariners and Chicago Cubs both got to experience something this week that has only happened one other time in the history of Major League Baseball.

Randy Arozarena hit a first-pitch, leadoff home run against the Cubs on Saturday night, and then eight innings later, hit a walk-off homer to give the Mariners the 5-4 win. Arozarena just hit a leadoff and walk-off homer in the same game.

As MLB shared on social media from Sarah Langs, Arozarena's feat was just the third time it's ever happened in history, coincidentally joining Pete Crow-Armstrong from earlier in the week with the same exact wild feat of history.

Randy Arozarena and Pete Crow-Armstrong make wild MLB history in same week

"Only 3 players in MLB HISTORY have hit a first-pitch leadoff homer and a walk-off homer in the same game. Two of them did it THIS WEEK," MLB shared on social media.

Baseball is an incredible sport. Something could happen just one time in the entire history of baseball, and within the same week, it happens twice.

Crow-Armstrong and Arozarena, within six days of each other, both hit first-pitch, leadoff home runs to open a game, and then later added a walk-off homer to win it.

Only Vic Power back in 1957 has accomplished this feat. In MLB's long history, before this week, it only happened once. And now, in the last six days, it's happened twice.

What makes it so much better is that Arozarena achieved this feat against Crow-Armstrong and the Cubs.

Somehow, Cubs fans got to experience something that has happened just three times in the entire course of MLB history in the same week, from both the winners' and the losers' perspectives.

Arozarena and Crow-Armstrong just had one of the wilder coincidental moments in MLB and professional sports history. This feat might not happen again for a very long time, even with teams using power-hitters in the leadoff spot more often nowadays.

Mariners and Cubs fans got to experience some truly wild history this week, as Arozarena's wild Saturday night, which also featured a home-run robbery on top of the leadoff and walk-off homers, is one of the crazier single games in MLB history.
