The Seattle Mariners have some choices to make.
With the end of the World Series on Saturday night, the offseason is here. And that means free agency is set to get underway.
MLB released a list of the veterans who have become free agents on Sunday. The Mariners have four such players.
That quartet of Seattle's new free agents:
- Josh Naylor
- Eugenio Suarez
- Caleb Ferguson
- Luke Jackson

Ferguson and Jackson are both relief pitchers that Seattle doesn't have a great reason to retain.
Naylor and Suarez are a different story entirely.
They both came to Seattle before the trade deadline from the Arizona Diamondbacks. They were available in the first place just because they were in contract years.
Naylor played much better for the Mariners. He slugged, hit for contact and even stole bases.
Suarez struggled more in what was his second stint in Seattle. The consistent power he showed in the first half with Arizona didn't show up as much.

Both could still be useful going forward, although for salary reasons the Mariners may have to choose to prioritize one and let the other walk.
Naylor seems like the better guy to keep, but he also might cost more.
The negotiations will get going, and the Mariners' 2026 season will depend a lot on what happens with these two new free agents.
