Man Utd make £35m bid for key Amorim transfer target

Manchester United are wasting no time in their summer rebuild after already completing three signings.

With boss Ruben Amorim already at work, the Red Devils have reportedly submitted a £35 million bid for Sporting CP midfielder Morten Hjulmand.

The Danish midfielder, who played under Amorim at Sporting, is believed to be keen on a reunion in England.

United’s offer is said to fall short of Sporting’s demands, with the Portuguese club holding out for closer to £43 million. Still, the bid signals that United are serious about reshaping their midfield — an area that saw plenty of struggles last season.

The move also comes at a time when United are under pressure to bring in fresh legs. Casemiro's form has dipped, Christian Eriksen already left, the club needs more power in the center of the park.

Amorim, who knows Hjulmand well, seems to think the 26-year-old could be the answer.

Why Man United want to sign Morten Hjulmand?

Hjulmand isn’t a flashy name, but he’s all grit and grind — the kind of player who loves a muddy tackle and lives for midfield battles.

He made more tackles than any other Sporting player last season and also impressed in the air. Stats suggest he wins most of his duels, both on the ground and in the air.

He's not known for fancy footwork or long passes, but what he lacks in flair, he makes up for in energy and discipline.

Amorim used him as a key part of his system at Sporting, and it's clear he trusts him to do the same job in the Premier League.

United fans may not be rushing to buy shirts with his name yet, but Hjulmand might just be the quiet engine that makes things tick next season.
