Man United injury list: Players out, potential return dates, predicted lineup for next game vs. Leeds United

1 hour ago 3

Michael Carrick has enjoyed a strong start to life as Manchester United interim manager and will be hoping to conclude the season in similar fashion after the international break.

Ruben Amorim was sacked on January 5, the day after a 1-1 draw at Leeds United after which the Portuguese went public with his apparent frustrations at the way things were being done at the club.

Darren Fletcher took charge for the 2-2 Premier League draw at Burnley and the 2-1 FA Cup third-round defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion — a result that effectively ended any remaining hope of silverware this season.

Now, Carrick is tasked with leading the charge towards UEFA Champions League qualification and a desperate attempt to salvage something from another miserable season at Old Trafford. He has them on track to do just that, although there are some difficult games coming up in April and May.

Here is how their injury list looks, when they can expect players to be back, and what their predicted lineup looks like for their next game.

Man United injury list

Below is the latest injury picture for Man United, and estimated return dates for those who are sidelined.

Benjamin Sesko

  • Injury: Undisclosed
  • Expected return: April 13 (vs. Leeds)

Sesko had to withdraw from international duty in March because of an unspecified injury that United say he has been managing for some weeks. It is not expected to rule him out of the Leeds match.

Bryan Mbeumo

  • Injury: Undisclosed
  • Expected return: April 13 (vs. Leeds)

Mbeumo had to be substituted in the Bournemouth draw, and, like Sesko, he sat out his country's international matches. United reportedly do not consider the problem serious.

Noussair Mazraoui

  • Injury: Foot/illness
  • Expected return: April 13 (vs. Leeds)

Mazraoui came off injured late in the defeat to Newcastle United after his foot was stepped on and was seen limping out of St. James' Park after the match. He then missed the Bournemouth draw with illness, but he should be available to face Leeds.

Matthijs de Ligt

  • Injury: Lower back
  • Expected return date: April 13 (vs. Leeds United)

De Ligt has not featured since the reverse fixture at Palace at the end of November. Carrick has insisted for a few weeks that the player is "getting there", but the back issue is proving difficult to overcome. He missed the Netherlands' international fixtures in March and could target the Leeds game in mid-April for a return.

Lisandro Martinez

  • Injury: Calf
  • Expected return date: April 13 (vs. Leeds United)

Martinez was a late withdrawal from United's win at Everton due to a calf injury. Carrick insisted the problem was not serious, but he sat out the games against Palace, Newcastle, Villa, and Bournemouth. It is hoped he will be ready for Leeds' visit.

Patrick Dorgu

  • Injury: Hamstring
  • Expected return date: April 27 (vs. Brentford)

Dorgu suffered a hamstring injury during the second half of the win at Arsenal, in which he scored a spectacular goal. The Athletic reported on January 27 that the winger could be out for up to 10 weeks. Carrick later confirmed it would be at least "a few weeks," although he would not speculate on a precise time frame. Dorgu returned to individual training on the pitch in the opening days of April, and he could be back in the squad this month.

Man United suspension list

Harry Maguire

  • Suspension length: One game
  • Expected return date: April 18 (vs. Chelsea)

Maguire was shown a straight red card against Bournemouth after being judged to have pulled Evanilson to the ground and denying a clear goal-scoring opportunity. Such an offence carries a one-game ban as it was not serious foul play, so he will miss the Leeds game and return for the visit to Chelsea.
