Major WWE star expected to be called up to main roster; spotted at SmackDown - Reports

A major WWE NXT star is reportedly being called up to the main roster soon and has been spotted at SmackDown. Tonight's show will be the first episode of the blue brand following Saturday Night's Main Event.

According to a new report from BodySlam, former NXT Champion Trick Williams has been spotted backstage tonight at SmackDown. The report noted that Williams is expected to be called up to the promotion's main roster soon, but it was not confirmed if he would be appearing on tonight's show.

Trick Williams captured the NXT Championship twice during his time in the promotion. He also won the TNA World Championship earlier this year and held the title for 140 days before dropping it to Santana at Bound For Glory. Williams challenged Ricky Saints for the NXT Championship at Halloween Havoc 2025 but came up short. Oba Femi defeated Ricky Saints at WWE NXT Deadline 2025 to capture the title.

WWE star comments on her relationship with Trick Williams

Lash Legend recently discussed her relationship with Trick Williams and claimed that they were meant to be together.

Legend was in action in the Women's WarGames match at WWE Survivor Series, but her team came up short. In an interview with Denise Salcedo, Legend discussed her relationship with the former NXT Champion and shared that they have a lot of the same interests.

"We truly were just friends for the first couple of years being at the PC. And I got to learn that he was such a great person, and I think he felt the same way about me. Then one day we were just like, 'hey, let's be friends outside of work and let's see what happens.' We just clicked. I mean, we had so many of the same interests. Our backgrounds are so familiar, and it was like, 'Yeah, we're supposed to be together, so let's be together.'"

Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams used to be in an alliance together in NXT. It will be interesting to see if Williams makes an appearance on WWE SmackDown in the weeks ahead.
