Maxxine Dupri is the new Intercontinental Champion and the third title holder in the history of the lineage. A major rule was finally changed after 163 days, thanks to the big win.
This week on RAW in Madison Square Garden, WWE decided to go all out. It was John Cena's final appearance on the red brand, and he also had his last-ever match on RAW, teaming up with Sheamus and Rey Mysterio to defeat The Judgment Day's Dominik Mysterio, Finn Balor, and JD McDonagh. It was McDonagh that Cena pinned. In the main event of the show, both Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns returned for Survivor Series: WarGames. However, the biggest shocker was undoubtedly Maxxine Dupri becoming the Women's Intercontinental Champion thanks to an AJ Lee assist.
As a result of Maxxine Dupri's Intercontinental Championship victory, Lyra Valkyria can finally challenge for the title again. It has been 163 days since she lost it at Money in the Bank 2025, and as a result of the stipulation, she couldn't challenge for the title again as long as Becky Lynch was the Champion. That rule has now officially ended.
It's going to be interesting to see how WWE handles Maxxine Dupri's title reign. Lyra Valkyria could be the next in line to challenge for the title, as she has nothing else going on right now. This week on RAW, she was in a backstage segment with Bayley, who called her an idiot for no valid reason.
She isn't pegged for WarGames, and neither is Bayley. With the return of Charlotte Flair, and the tease of AJ Lee joining the babyface team, it seems like the slot has been filled. Moreover, Bayley outright rejected Asuka's offer to join her team at WarGames as she was unwilling to overlook their past issues.
