WWE is headed to a new year following Saturday Night's Main Event, where John Cena had his final match in the industry as a performer. Meanwhile, Stevie Richards thinks Triple H is destined to be the next 'Mr. McMahon' on the weekly product.

Vince McMahon's on-screen persona was one of the most despicable characters in the Stamford-based promotion, and it also allowed new or established stars to gain momentum when they had a feud with Mr. McMahon. However, a character of such a level hasn't been seen on television in a while.

Speaking on The Stevie Richards Show, the multi-time WWE Hardcore Champion believes that Triple H is tipped to become the next Mr. McMahon on the weekly product based on the creative team's booking of John Cena's last-ever match at WWE Saturday Night's Main Event and The Game's hidden callback to the former CEO's promo on Bret Hart.

"Now, Gunther has heat, Triple H has heat, and Triple H used a line that I believe that Triple H is going to be the next Mr. McMahon on TV. The time-honored tradition: he pulled out the Bret sc**wed Bret interview line from Vince. He did it at the post-show when they booed him," Richards said.

Was Vince McMahon at WWE Saturday Night's Main Event for John Cena's last match?

John Cena's career in the Stamford-based promotion lasted for over two decades, and Cena spent the majority of it under Vince McMahon's regime as the face of the company. The Franchise Player has spoken highly of his former boss and even supported him in difficult times.

However, the new regime doesn't take any chances, and Vince McMahon was nowhere to be seen in Washington for WWE Saturday Night's Main Event. Moreover, he only had his voice used in a video package for John Cena and hasn't made any appearances for the company in over a few years.
