WWE wrestler and legend John Cena recently capped off his farewell run earlier this month. The star wrestled his last match at Saturday Night's Main Event on December 13.
It was an emotional night in Washington as the 17-time World Champion called the curtains on his wrestling career. The Cenation Leader tapped out to Gunther in his final encounter. After the match, the entire WWE locker room walked out and gave Cena a warm reception.
On a recent episode of The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, the wrestling veteran detailed that it would be a huge moment if AEW star Chris Jericho returned to WWE. He detailed that the immediate pop for Y2J would be incredible. Matt Hardy noted that WWE would possibly book Jericho's farewell run as they did for Cena, making it a memorable moment for the legendary wrestler.
"I feel like if he came back to WWE, it'd be a huge moment, especially in a Royal Rumble, whatever, wherever that appearance would, it would be massive. And then I feel like there would be a good run he could do, even if it is his last run and he retires at the end of it, like Cena did. But I think they would honor him and do right by him. And I think it'd be a big deal for WWE, especially in the immediate future." (H/T Wrestling Inc.)John Cena will be associated with WWE
After John Cena's farewell match, the company's Chief Content Officer, Triple H, showed up on the post-show. He detailed that although Cena's in-ring career was over, the star would still be associated with the brand.
"John Cena's passion for WWE didn't end tonight. John Cena's in-ring career ended tonight, his competitive stature. It's rare that people, one, see the end there and then think this is exactly how I want to go out and then get to do it. And that's what John got to do tonight."Triple H pointed out that Cena had incredible passion for the business, and a driven individual like him would still find ways to be associated with WWE and its fans.
