Luka Doncic’s hamstring is hurt again — here are some possible timetables for a return

The hamstring runs from the glute all the way down to the back of the knee.

And it’ll be just about the only thing the Lakers — and the team’s fans — care about for the foreseeable future.

Luka Doncic injured the muscle on Thursday night in Los Angeles’ road game against the Thunder, and it did not look good.

The 27-year-old could hardly put any weight on it, before he collapsed to the floor. He then needed assistance to get back to the locker room.

Test results have not yet been made public, but given that Doncic missed nearly half of February with a hamstring injury on the same left leg, there’s plenty of concern that he’ll be out for weeks — not days.

According to WebMD, there are three degrees of hamstring strains one can suffer.

Grade 1 is considered a mild one. Grade 2 is classified as a partial tear. And Grade 3 is the worst — it means the hamstring has completely ruptured.

Evan Jeffries, who touts himself as a “Doctor of Physical Therapy” on X, wrote on the social media app that a Grade 1 ruling would mean Doncic would miss around 1-2 weeks.

Grade 2, however, would cost him 3-6, Jeffries wrote.

A Grade 3 would mean no Doncic for the NBA playoffs, to the say the least.

Postseason play begins in mid-April, and the Lakers should find out about Doncic’s availability soon enough.

Until then, the handwringing in Los Angeles will continue.
