On Tuesday, a 528-page authorized visual book of the Lakers’ franchise history was published by TASCHEN.
The book features never-before-published artwork and photographs, along with original stories and essays from many members of the Lakers’ organization, past and present.
Star guard Luka Dončić’s essay is making waves on social media for the passionate message he sent about being part of the franchise.
“Somehow, now I have landed in Los Angeles. I’m a Laker now. I’m not sure that I ever could have imagined being here and wearing the purple and gold. It’s a wonderful surprise and it feels amazing and now I desperately want what all Lakers want: To win it all,” Dončić was quoted as saying, per an Instagram post from @jdeez.
“I won’t rest until we win more championships.”
He later added, “On one of my first days as part of this incredible club… Jeanie Buss welcomed me into her office and showed me all the trophies that sit next to her desk, overlooking the practice court. She told me that now I will have the chance to write my own story as a Laker. That is what I plan to do.”
The emotional message concluded with Dončić saying. “I tend to let my game do most of the talking, but I want Lakers fans to know that I am ready, excited, and eager to deliver SO ready. This is a city that is used to winning and winning big. I am so honored and grateful that I get the chance now to write my own championship chapters.”
Lakers fans are hoping everything Dončić has promised in this message will come true.
