The Los Angeles Lakers earned another pivotal victory Thursday night, defeating the Heat in Miami for their eighth consecutive win.
Luka Doncic was unstoppable, scoring 60 points on 18-for-30 shooting from the field including 9-for-17 from three-point range.
Doncic also added seven rebounds, three assists and tied a career-high with five steals.
Over his last eight games, Doncic is averaging 40.9 points, 8.9 rebounds, 7.4 assists and 2.4 steals per game.
LeBron James also shined, posting a triple-double with 19 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists.
In the win, Doncic and James made history for the Lakers. Doncic's 60-point night and James' triple-double marked the first time that two Lakers teammates reached those marks in the same game since 1969 when Wilt Chamberlain scored 66 points and Elgin Baylor contributed a triple-double.
Not to mention, Doncic and James did so on the second night of a back-to-back.
Austin Reaves also added 18 points and five rebounds. Marcus Smart's defense was critical as well, as the former Defensive Player of the Year collected two steals in addition to his 13 points.
Following the game, Smart spoke on the streak saying: "We're trusting one another, the chemistry is getting better. We're finally understanding guys strengths and weaknesses and trying to put them in the right place to succeed."
With the victory, the Lakers increased their lead to two games over fourth place (Minnesota Timberwolves) in the Western Conference.
Doncic, James and the Lakers will have Friday off before returning to action Saturday in Orlando against the Magic.
