Former LSU gymnast Livvy Dunne is starting to embrace her newest role even if it comes with a little humor.

“I’m not a lifeguard, but I play one on TV,” Dunne wrote on social media after news broke that she had joined the cast of the upcoming Baywatch revival.

The post was one of Dunne’s first public reactions after the casting news surfaced Thursday. She also added on X, “time to get to work.”

According to Variety, Dunne will appear in the series as Grace, described as a “highly enthusiastic junior lifeguard.” The role represents the first professional acting credit for the social media sensation.

Her boyfriend, Paul Skenes, also shared the news on his Instagram account after the casting news leaked.

The moment also drew support from someone closely tied to Dunne’s transition into acting.

Her acting coach, Caroline Allegrante, shared a post celebrating the milestone, writing, “So proud of Liv on booking her first acting role.”

Dunne responded simply, “the best!!”

The announcement also sparked a wave of reactions from celebrities and Dunne’s future castmates.

Brooks Nader, who will also appear in the reboot, commented, “Let’s go baby.”

Fellow cast member Jessica Belkin added, “This is going to be so fun. Congrats!”

Dunne even joked back in the replies. “I suddenly can’t swim and need to be saved,” she wrote to Nader.

The reboot will star Stephen Amell as Hobie Buchannon, the son of original “Baywatch” lead Mitch Buchannon. The cast also includes Shay Mitchell, Noah Beck, Nader, Belkin and David Chokachi, who will reprise his role as Cody Madison from the original series.

For Dunne, who built one of the largest followings in college athletics during the NIL era, the role represents another step in her transition from gymnastics into entertainment.
