Liverpool great Jamie Carragher has hit back at his former England teammate, Rio Ferdinand, following the latter's social media post about Mohamed Salah. Carragher has made headlines over the last few days following Salah's media outburst last week and his comments afterwards.

Salah also hit out at Carragher during his explosive interview after Liverpool's 3-3 draw against Leeds United last week. Carragher branded Salah's comments as 'disgrace' while criticizing the Egyptian for his interview.

Arne Slot entirely left Salah out of the matchday squad against Inter Milan in midweek as the Reds secured a 1-0 win. He returned to the squad on Saturday after holding talks with Slot and came on as a first-half substitute to help Liverpool beat Brighton 2-0.

After the game, the fans sang Salah's song and the superstar was seen applauding the crowd. Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand shared a clip on social media, posting on X:

"Thoughts @Carra23? “Mo Salah” being sung by the Kop".

Carragher responded to Ferdinand's social media post and hit out at his silence over the price of World Cup tickets. The ex-Manchester United defender declared he was a 'man of the people' before hosting the tournament draw on behalf of FIFA. Carragher posted on X:

And rightly so, he was fantastic when he came on. Thoughts on the price of the World Cup tickets @rioferdy5 A man of the people would surely call @FIFAcom & Infantino out 🤷🏻‍♂️ Or was your pay packet for the draw (acting 🤯😭) to buy your silence 🤫

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Salah at Anfield but he seemed more than happy on Saturday, December 13. He is now set to join Egypt for the upcoming African Cup of Nations.

Salah has established himself as one of the best players in Premier League history since his move to Anfield in 2017 from AS Roma. He has made 421 appearances for Liverpool till date scoring 250 times while providing 117 assists helping his side win eight trophies.

Saudi Pro League club owner rules out Mo Salah transfer after ‘toxic’ behaviour at Liverpool

Saudi Pro League club Al Kholood's owner Ben Harburg has claimed that Mohamed Salah is not the right fit for the Saudi Pro League. He has claimed that the Liverpool star is not a team player, which reflects from his recent media outburst.

Harburg has claimed that the Saudi Pro League is working on a deal to sign the Liverpool attacker. However, he believes that Salah's attitude might not be a good fit for the league. He said, via Football 365:

“I do think there’s already, even amongst the public, much more apprehension around his coming into the league. He’s 33 years old, he got paid a boatload a year or so ago, whatever it was, and has underperformed massively since then. He doesn’t strike me as a great team player. As an owner, when I look at the way he behaved there … if a player isn’t performing, they’re not going to be in the starting lineup. We don’t put people in the starting lineup based on what they did three seasons ago or even last season."

He added:

“All that, to me, combines for a fairly toxic combination of factors. So I would rather he not come here. I’m sure some people like his star power, he’s from the region, but my sentiment is that he is not a fit for our league. I would rather, if it were between him and Vinicius, I’d take Vinicius. I’m hoping we go after those 25-year-old next wave players rather than guys like Salah, who definitely this would be the last stop on his career.”

Salah has been heavily linked with a move to Saudi Arabia on a number of occasions in the past. His move to the Saudi Pro League seems inevitable at some point, given he is arguably the greatest player ever from the Arabian region.
