Lions head coach Dan Campbell gets emotional talking about Morice Norris’ condition

After the scary on-field injury that Morice Norris suffered last night during the Detroit Lions game against the Atlanta Falcons, there is some good news to report.

The Lions released a statement late Friday night updating his condition.

"Morice Norris is in stable condition and has feeling and movement in all his extremities."He will remain at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta overnight for observation. We would like to thank the Atlanta Falcons organization, the EMS team at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, and the doctors and staff at Grady for their support."

Norris was taken off the field in an ambulance late in the fourth quarter after colliding with running back Nathan Carter.

The game was suspended with over six minutes to go, as players from both teams gathered on the field to pray for Norris.

Lions head coach Dan Campbell echoed the team’s statements.

"He's breathing. He's talking. That's good. He's got some movement," Campbell said. "And now they're running more tests."

As Campbell continued to talk, he got emotional talking about Norris injury.

"It's just an eye-opener. It hits, you know? It hits a little different. It puts things in perspective," Campbell said. "I'll tell you what — man, it's a violent game, and we love it. But when something like this happens, the silver-lining is the brotherhood. To see all those guys from that team, our team, kind of come together and everybody is thinking about another player, it just means a lot."

Although it appears that Norris may be ok, these types of scary injuries are becoming way too often in the NFL, and it often goes back to how safe are the players?

The NFL has been doing a better job of protecting its players, it’s still scary to think how bad this could have been.
