Lions HC Dan Campbell gives clear verdict on tush-push to stay legal amid calls to ban Eagles' signature move

Dan Campbell is a football purist. The Detroit Lions head coach doesn't do shortcuts, and he's famous for his aggressive style of play-calling.

When asked about his opinion on the Philadelphia Eagles tush push, Campbell had this to say,

"I’m a purist. You take something out of the game, then we’re taking the next thing out of the game, and pretty soon we don’t have pads anymore. Then pretty soon you’re only playing 30 minutes."

Campbell believes that it's not up to the NFL to ban the tush push, but rather for teams to find a way to game plan around it. The move might be potent, but it doesn't have a 100% conversion rate.

Campbell believes that banning the tush push might set a worrisome precedent for the game. That's because the game could get watered down, and before long, something as drastic as a shortened 30-minute game could be approved.
