Detroit Lions' rushing attack breaks NFL record in Week 11 vs. Jaguars

The Detroit Lions sport the best running back duo in the NFL in Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery, and the duo added another notch in its belt against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 11.

In the first half against the Jags, both Montgomery and Gibbs recorded a rushing touchdown, with Montgomery finding pay dirt twice. He scored in the first and second quarters, while Gibbs found pay dirt in the second frame.

With Montgomery's touchdown in the first quarter, the Lions broke the NFL record for the most consecutive games with a rushing touchdown. Including the playoffs, Detroit has scored at least one rushing touchdown in each of its last 24 games, something no team in league history has done.

In terms of just regular season games, the Lions have notched a rushing score in 21 straight contests, which is tied with the Miami Dolphins (1974-1976) for the third-longest streak in NFL history.

The @Lions have scored a rushing TD in 24 straight games, including the postseason, the longest streak in @NFL history.

Their streak of 21 straight regular-season games with a rushing TD is tied with the 1974-76 Dolphins for the 3rd-longest ever.

Of course, having an elite offense that offers a lot of opportunities for touchdowns certainly helps, but Gibbs and Montgomery are damn good, also.

After both backs nearly broke 1,000 yards on the ground in 2023, Montgomery and Gibbs are on pace to accomplish that feat in 2024 and have been wreaking havoc on opposing defenses. The aforementioned streak is a perfect example of that.
