Edmonton Oilers forward Leon Draisaitl hinted after the game that Mika Zibanejad’s penalty late in the game should have been harsher.

With the score tied at 3-3, the Oilers had a power play to end the third period and start overtime. A high-stick play from Zibanejad resulted in Jack Roslovic bleeding.

However, the officials only gave the Oilers a two-minute power play. After the game, Draisaitl appeared to be unsatisfied with Zibanejad's penalty call:

"No, not sure. It doesn't make a lot of sense, but yeah, it is what it is," he said when asked about the explanation.

Draisaitl highlighted turnovers as one of the biggest reasons they lost to the Rangers:

“Just not clean enough with the puck. Turnovers just kind of turned the game a little bit. So yeah, just have to clean that up.”

"We're a little disappointed"- Oiler HC Kris Knoblauch shares his thoughts after defeat to the Rangers

Edmonton Oilers coach Kris Knoblauch shared his thoughts after a 4-3 overtime loss to the Rangers at Rogers Place on Thursday.

He expressed concerns over the team's pattern of progress followed by regression.

“You always have success when your best players are your best players,” said Kris Knoblauch via Journal. “You need your depth and other players contributing but when things are going well it’s usually your best players who contributing night in and night out.

He added:

“Some guys could be better, top guys and bottom guys, collectively. We’re a little disappointed. We feel like we take a step forward and two steps back. Just because we talk about something and do something well for a short time doesn’t mean we’ve got it solved."

The Edmonton Oilers host the Chicago Blackhawks at Rogers Place next on Saturday. The puck drops at 10 p.m. ET.
