LeBron James linked to blockbuster move as streamer teases 'very happy' decision

LeBron James' eight-year run with the Lakers is officially over. His agent Rich Paul informed ESPN's Shams Charania that James told the franchise he's moving on, making him an unrestricted free agent for the first time since he signed in L.A. back in 2018.

Paul has spent the opening week of free agency working the phones, and LeBron James' camp has reportedly narrowed the list to six teams: the Golden State Warriors, Miami Heat, Cleveland Cavaliers, Philadelphia 76ers, Denver Nuggets, and Minnesota Timberwolves.

Out of everyone, Golden State is making waves due to its rumored plan. They can't offer James the biggest paycheck, but they have enough big names to offer him a real shot at another championship.

The Warriors reportedly want to build a brand new "Big Four". They plan to sign the 41-year-old using the cap space from Draymond Green opting out, and then pull off a blockbuster trade with the Washington Wizards to get Anthony Davis.

To match salaries, the Warriors would likely have to send Jimmy Butler and a package of draft picks to Washington. If they can pair James and Davis with Green and a healthy Stephen Curry, Golden State thinks they can put a legitimate contender on the floor for one more title run.

N3on didn't confirm Golden State by name, but the timing lines up with everything already swirling around the Warriors' pursuit, and that's enough for fans connecting dots to assume that's the "happy" ending he's hinting at.

A potential pairing between James and Curry is driving most of the current discussion. The two have been rivals for over a decade, facing each other in four consecutive NBA Finals. Teaming up after years of competing against one another will explode at the box office.

Until Paul or James makes an official announcement, his destination remains unconfirmed. Anything can happen at this point. Cavaliers fans are pushing hard for a homecoming, while the 76ers have a serious edge after trading for Jaylen Brown.

Still, for most basketball fans, seeing James and Curry finally share the floor in the NBA is the ultimate dream after watching them play together for Team USA in the Olympics, and it's the outcome that would make the most people happy.
