Former No. 1 pick Kwame Brown made a scathing accusation against LeBron James and his agent, Rich Paul, amid the LA Lakers’ recent struggles. Brown took issue with the comments Paul made on his “Game Over” podcast.

Paul, while speaking to Max Kellerman, questioned Los Angeles’ status as contenders, claiming that the team is not ready for championship No. 18 just yet.

“I personally don’t think the Lakers are good enough to be contenders, not right now," Paul said. “When you look at it now, athleticism, length, shooting, speed. Can they play fast? I don’t think so."

Luka Doncic and Co., who held second place in the Western Conference, have dropped down to fifth place since Paul’s comments. Kwame Brown claims that these struggles should be blamed on LeBron James and his agent.

"I think LeBron James is a weak weasel, I think Rich Paul is a weak weasel,” Brown said. “What I watched LeBron have his agent do just destroyed the team.”

The Lakers have lost three games in a row and are enduring one of the roughest stretches of their season so far. While fans continue criticizing Paul’s comments, the team’s injury issues have also contributed to its inconsistent form.

The Washington Wizards drafted Kwame Brown with the No. 1 pick in 2001. He was in the league for 12 seasons, playing for the Wizards, LA Lakers, Memphis Grizzlies, Detroit Pistons, Golden State Warriors and Philadelphia 76ers.

JJ Redick points to Lakers stars' return amid team’s struggles

After starting the season strong, the team has had a few hiccups along with its three-game losing streak. Speaking to the media on Saturday, the coach pointed toward LeBron James, citing the team’s lack of organization since his return.

“Since we've gotten Bron back, we haven't been as organized offensively; too many random possessions, that’s on me. It's those three things. Defensive clarity, role clarity and offensive organization.”

James got off to a slow start, but has found his footing over the last few games. He is averaging 20.2 points, 5.1 rebounds and 6.8 assists per game, shooting 48.5%. The team is 4-6 in its last 10 games and will look to get back on track against the Sacramento Kings on Sunday.
