Lee Jae-wook portrays twin brothers Baek Do-ha and Baek Do-yeong. The siblings were split after their parents’ divorce. Do-ha was raised in the United States. Meanwhile, Do-yeong remained in South Korea. Each summer, Do-ha returns to Korea for a three-week stay, where he lives in a duplex with his father and his brother.
Their neighbor is Song Ha-gyeong, played by Choi Sung-eun, whose father is a longtime friend of the twins’ dad. As children, Ha-gyeong and Do-ha argued frequently. However, those quarrels developed into unspoken affection. The two eventually separated, only to meet again after an incident two years ago that brought irreversible change to their lives.
What's ahead in episodes 5 & 6 of Last Summer?
The next stretch of Last Summer episodes is expected to deepen the fallout from Ha-gyeong finally learning the truth about Baek Do-yeong and Do-ha’s long cover-up. In one scene, Do-ha hands Ha-gyeong a cohabitation agreement. The previous chat pushes them into shared space yet again.
There, they start reconnecting through daily routines, small disagreements, and the lingering familiarity they’ve never been able to shake off. Their progress is interrupted when Yoon So-hee appears and openly says she has feelings for Baek Do-ha.
This new triangle is likely to test how steady Ha-gyeong truly feels about letting Do-ha stay until the project ends. The show has also hinted at shifting energy around Seo Su-hyeok. Her scenes with Ha-gyeong suggest his interest is growing. The observatory plan will continue to drive the plot.
Council approvals, leftover conflicts, and the physical reconstruction of Patan High School are likely to bring Ha-gyeong and Do-ha into closer professional conflict. The story also left Do-yeong’s disappearance hanging in the background. So further details about where he went, why he vanished, and what he left behind may surface in Last Summer.
Last Summer 3 & 4 recap
Episode 3 of Last Summer starts with a tense exchange between Ha-gyeong and Do-ha, leaving her emotionally drained. She later spends time at a pig farm, keeping her distance. During the same period, Do-ha privately asks Su-hyeok to stretch the ongoing court case through the end of summer so he can remain nearby.
Both are soon assigned to revive the closed Patan High School by converting it into an observatory. Their cooperation begins awkwardly after a public argument in front of the mayor and local officials. Once they arrive at the old campus, Do-ha’s unexpected familiarity with the building (despite not studying there) startles Ha-gyeong. It pulls up memories she has avoided.
Later that night, she receives a call reporting a disturbance inside the abandoned school. When she checks the site, the surroundings remind her of earlier summers with the Baek brothers, especially the nights spent stargazing at the Peanut House. Those recollections include the moment Do-ha expressed his feelings, a confession that changed the balance between the three.
The next morning, Ha-gyeong wakes in tears and is informed that she is being transferred to the architecture division. Upset, she approaches Do-ha, who assures her he will handle the reassignment and address the strain between them.
He also states he intends to stay devoted to her through the summer. His vow to love her through the entire summer only heightens her turmoil, as she recalls confessing her feelings for him to Do-yeong instead. That admission pushes Do-yeong to walk away in Last Summer episode 3.
Last Summer (Image via X/@Netflix_PH)Episode 4 of Last Summer opens with Ha-gyeong finding out that Do-yeong passed away a year earlier. She confronts Do-ha for stepping into his brother’s identity. After leaving the Peanut House, she submits a request to switch projects, but her boss Jeon Ye-eun turns it down.
Even with the tension, she and Do-ha begin working on converting Patan High School into an observatory. Later that night, she drinks far too much and ends up being helped home by I-sul. The next day, Ha-gyeong joins the Patan Town council heads for a lunch meeting linked to the school plan. She and Do-ha also stop by the local festival before returning for the council’s decision.
Ha-gyeong secretly wishes they would reject the proposal, which would mark Do-ha’s exit from Patan. Instead, he convinces the elders by offering Dugyeonju, an azalea liquor given to him by the women’s association leader. While they talk indoors, Ha-gyeong eats outside with the president. The elders later arrange a Yut match, pairing her with Do-ha. He says a loss would count as her pulling back from the project, but they win the round.
That night, Do-ha tells her the emails were sent by him, but the star photos were taken by Do-yeong. He explains that his brother vanished, and the search team eventually recovered the camera filled with constellation shots. Do-ha explains that he kept his death a secret to spare her from another shock.
The following day, Ha-gyeong heads to the lawyer and says she will hand over full rights to Do-ha while keeping only half of her original portion. Later, she tells him she does not want any more emotional back-and-forth. That night, Do-ha tells her she does not have to keep hurting because he plans to leave after the work ends.
Meanwhile, Ha-gyeong crosses paths with the lawyer at a restaurant over sake and katsudon. He brings her to his office to show her the Seoul skyline at night. Later, they play bingo until she leaves after seeing Do-ha’s message.
When she gets home, she notices the planted Jongman and the painted wall. It was Do-ha's doing. Later, the two end up splashing water at each other like they did as kids. The Last Summer episode closes with Ha-gyeong agreeing to let him remain until the project finishes. Do-ha promises to change how she sees him before the summer ends.
