Lamar Jackson no longer MVP frontrunner after Sunday's loss

The Baltimore Ravens' 16-18 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers had more implications beyond just the scoreboard.

Lamar Jackson is no longer the favorite to win the NFL's MVP award. Instead, Josh Allen is.

Jackson's pedestrian showing against Pittsburgh, combined with Allen's exceptional performance in the Buffalo Bills' 30-21 win over the previously undefeated Kansas City Chiefs, has caused a shakeup atop the odds chart. Allen's odds now range from +125 to +150 while Jackson's are between +180 and +200.

A statistical comparison of the two AFC signal-callers still gives Jackson the edge. He has thrown for 2,876 yards and 25 touchdowns to only three interceptions in 11 games, while adding 584 yards and two more scores on the ground.

Allen, in the same amount of games, has thrown for 2,543 yards and 18 touchdowns to five interceptions, with 316 rushing yards and five more touchdowns on the ground -- including this game-sealing scamper on Sunday.

The MVP award is about more than stats, though -- it's about coming through in big moments, and for now, Allen's highlight-worthy performance has put him over the top. Though football is a team game, the fact that the Bills' 9-2 record is two games clear of the 7-4 Ravens may ultimately make the difference.

There's still lots of season left, though, and both Jackson and the Ravens on the whole will have plenty more opportunities to earn some hardware.
