Lakers' LeBron James hilariously gets real on constantly breaking NBA records

Every year, LeBron James has managed to surpass expectations of NBA fans. A lot of people thought that he would likely be retired by now but he is still one of JJ Redick's go-to players in the Los Angeles Lakers system. Through him and the efforts of Luka Doncic, this squad is looking like a title contender heading into the postseason. However, it would not be a full 82-game campaign in the association without a James breaking yet another record.

James' hilarious commentary on shattering NBA records

As of late, James now holds the all-time NBA regular season record for total games played. He notched the record over Robert Parish when the Lakers started him against the Orlando Magic. This marked his 1,612th game in the NBA regular season and it looks like he will make this feat harder to achieve for generations to come. It has now been a yearly expectation for James to break at least one all-time record and he usually clinches it.

He got real on what this means for him and if there were ever plans in the start of his career to overtake Parish in the NBA record books, via Tim Reynolds of The Associated Press.

"It’s not like I’m like writing things down and looking at the record book and saying: ‘I’m going to get that, I’m going to get that, I’m going to get that.’ It just kind of happened. It was not on the list of things that I wanted to accomplish," the Lakers legend said.

There have been speculations of his retirement nearing. NBA Insiders like Shams Charania have pointed out that the Lakers' season will determine whether or not he retires. They also outlined that he could likely still have one more season in him before leaving the court. James does not seem too concerned with all of these. He is just enjoying what the NBA still has to offer for his age.

"I wanted to be the best player in this league at some point. I wanted to be one of the greatest, if not the greatest, to ever play this game. I wanted to be an NBA champion. I wanted to possibly win rookie of the year, make All-Star appearances, win a gold medal, win some MVPs, those were some of my goals. But some of the stuff that’s just been happening over the course of the last few years has been super-duper cool," James added.

The main concern now is gaining momentum and possibly helping the Lakers move up in the Western Conference. As of the moment, they are the third seed and seven games back of the San Antonio Spurs after their nine-straight wins.
