Lakers' LeBron James gets new update on retirement from agent

LeBron James’ looming retirement decision continues to dominate the headlines.

If the four-time NBA champion returns for a 23rd season, the Los Angeles Lakers could postpone the Inevitable post-James era and attempt to capture their 18th championship in franchise history.

Although the influential 21-time All-Star has yet to make an official announcement, his agent recently spoke about the popular offseason subject.

"Normally, our process is you kind of weigh everything and see how he's feeling and all those type of things,” Klutch Sports’ Rich Paul said on the Rich Eisen Show Thursday.

"Same process it's been for the last I don't know how many years. He'll come around to what he's thinking at some point, and we'll kind of go over some things and go from there.”

As James pointed out at the beginning of the 2024-25 season, he has nothing else to prove in the big leagues.

From being the NBA’s all-time leading scorer to helping the Cleveland Cavaliers win their first-ever title, James has already solidified himself as one of the greatest players to grace the hardwood.

Still, winning ring No. 5 in his early 40s and spending another year alongside his developing son, Bronny, could motivate James to continue his NBA journey in Los Angeles.

Although the Lakers fell short this season, the ultra-gifted former No. 1 pick did all he could to help the organization extend its lively campaign.

James averaged 25.4 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 5.6 assists in five postseason contests against the Minnesota Timberwolves, connecting on 48.9% of his field goals and 35.7% of his triples.

James will have plenty of time to ponder his NBA future this summer.
