Lakers' $10 billion proposed sale gets massive update

The longtime owners of the Los Angeles Lakers, the Buss family, have been hoping to sell their majority stake of the franchise to a group led by two Los Angeles Dodgers owners, Mark Walter and, in a more limited capacity, Todd Boehly.

Per NBA Communications, the record $10 billion team sale has now been unanimously approved by the league's board of governors.

A Lakers press statememnt has confirmed the sale.

“The Los Angeles Lakers are one of the most iconic franchises in all of sports, defined by a history of excellence and the relentless pursuit of greatness,” Walter said as part of the press release. “Few teams carry the legacy and global influence of the Lakers, and it’s a privilege to work alongside Jeanie Buss as we maintain that excellence and set the standard for success in this new era, both on and off the court.”
