NASCAR veteran Kyle Busch and his 10-year-old son Brexton raced side-by-side in the POWRi Wing Outlaw Micro feature at the Southern Illinois Center on December 20, 2025. The family moment was later posted on social media by Kyle’s wife, Samantha Busch.
The outing was part of the Jr. Knepper 55 indoor event, which drew a packed crowd to the historic DuQuoin State Fairgrounds. Kameron Chamness won the 25-lap feature after taking the lead with six laps to go. Kole Kirkman finished runner-up, and Jordan Clary completed the podium. Brexton ran the No. 18B winged Outlaw Micro and finished sixth in the feature, while Kyle drove the No. 51 to 13th.
Samantha posted a short clip from the race on Instagram and wrote:
“Kyle and brexton racing side by side here in Duquoin.”

He began racing at four and a half, has contested more than 400 features, and carries 150-plus wins into 2026. In 2025, he took the Golden Driller in Tulsa’s January Shootout and secured the Bandits division title in the fall. The rise from winged karts to micro sprints shows a young driver moving through the same development path that produced his father and uncle, Kurt Busch.
For Kyle, the dirt program is refreshing. He finished the 2025 Cup Series without a victory, his second consecutive winless year at the top level. However, he has continued to race off the paved circuit in events like DuQuoin and the Snowball Derby.
Kyle Busch and Brexton set for another head-to-head at the 2026 Tulsa Shootout

Kyle Busch plans to run Winged A, Winged Outlaw, Non-Wing Outlaw, and Stock Non-Wing classes during the week. Brexton moves up to contest the Winged A division against his father while also running Restricted Class A. It will be the fourth time the pair have raced each other on a major stage this season.
Tulsa has become a family event for several high-profile drivers. Kyle Larson entered the Chili Bowl and has his children racing in multiple classes, underscoring how grassroots events are also family gatherings for national stars. For Kyle Busch, the weekend in Tulsa will be busy.
The Buschs first ran against each other at Millbridge Speedway back in March. The Nevada native then returned to the Bullring at Las Vegas earlier this month for a midgets feature. As Brexton climbs the ladder, more head-to-head meetings are expected.
