Kon Knueppel seen practicing ahead of three-point contest

Heading into the All-Star break, the Charlotte Hornets are up to ninth place in the Eastern Conference standings, surging up the leaderboard after a slow start to the season.

Charlotte has now won 10 of their last 11 games and rookie sensation Kon Knueppel has been a huge contributing factor.

This season, the recent No. 4 overall pick is averaging 18.9 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.6 assists in 32.1 minutes per game.

That said, what has been most impressive about Knueppel is his shooting efficiency. The former Duke alum heads to the break shooting 48.4% from the field, 43.1% from three-point range and 90.2% from the free throw line. With numbers like these, Knueppel has a great opportunity to join the 50/40/90 club and become the first rookie ever to do so.

Knueppel has another chance to make NBA history this weekend if he's able to take home a victory in the three-point contest.

In doing so, he'd become the first rookie ever to win the event. He'd also become the first Charlotte Hornet to win the three-point crown.

In fact, in a recent video posted to social media, Knueppel has already been seen preparing for the competition. In the clip, Knueppel is seen knocking down seven consecutive three-pointers as he runs around the three-point line on the court.

That won't be Knueppel's only appearance this weekend however, as he was also selected to play in the Rising Stars Challenge representing Tracy McGrady's team.

Following the break, Knueppel and the Hornets will be back in action Feb. 19 against the Houston Rockets.
