Knicks predicted to sign ex-Spurs $16M gritty 8-year veteran coming off an injury last season

The New York Knicks still have some time to add to the roster, as they only have 13 roster spots filled. They are being patient with who they sign to fill the final couple of spots.

New York has shown some interest in veterans around the league, but there is some serious interest in Drew Eubanks.

“The Knicks have a couple of defensive-minded veterans on their radar as they continue to evaluate how to fill out their final roster spots, according to Ian Begley of SNY.tv, who reports that free agents Drew Eubanks and John Konchar are among the players the team is eyeing,” Hoops Rumors’ Rory Maher wrote.

Eubanks is a great depth piece and has been throughout his entire career. The center is coming off a season-ending thumb injury he suffered last season.

“Sacramento Kings center Drew Eubanks underwent successful surgery to repair a torn UCL in his left thumb. The procedure was performed by Dr. Steven Shin at the Linden Surgical Center in Beverly Hills, Calif. Eubanks will be listed as out for the rest of the 2025-26 season and is expected to make a full recovery,” NBA.com wrote.

Eubanks is gritty and is an efficient rebounder. Daily Knicks’ Jack Simone believes they should sign Eubanks to a deal.

“For the last few years, Drew Eubanks has emerged as a very reliable third-string center. If the Knicks were to sign him, that’s exactly what he would have to be. Eubanks appeared in 42 games for the Sacramento Kings last season, and before that, he spent time with the LA Clippers, Utah Jazz, and Phoenix Suns. He’s not the type of player who is going to drastically change the way next season goes for the Knicks, but having an extra center on the roster behind Karl-Anthony Towns and Andre Drummond would be great,” Simone wrote.

Eubanks has played for six teams in his career, starting with the San Antonio Spurs. The big center has made a living in the league as a great role player and will continue to do so if the Knicks sign him.

Eubanks has made $16 million throughout his career. This doesn’t have to be a big deal for New York, just one that brings in the third center they have been looking for throughout the summer.
