The New York Knicks need to be kicking themselves. They were so close to an NBA championship, and had a few things broken differently, they could have been in the NBA Finals. Now, the team will look to improve their roster in any way possible this offseason. The Knicks' draft pick this season will be the first opportunity for them to improve their roster.
ESPN’s draft experts, Jonathan Givony and Jeremy Woo just released their most updated 2025 NBA Mock Draft.
ESPN predicted that with the 50th overall pick (the only Knicks draft pick in 2025), the team would take Lachlan Olbrich.
Olbrich is an Australian big man, currently playing in the Australian NBL. He is 6’10” and 235 lbs and would bring some much-needed size to the Knicks frontcourt.
Olbrich is known as being a gritty bruiser, skills that will fit perfectly in New York.
Right now, the Knicks don’t have a lot of playmaking in their frontcourt, and Olbrich could bring them plenty of that. He has good playmaking instincts and is an underrated passer. He also has a nice touch in the post.
Since losing in the playoffs, the Knicks' rumors have been louder than ever. Some think the team may be looking to make a Karl-Anthony Towns trade this offseason. This Knicks draft pick becomes even more important if Towns is on the way out.

Additionally, one of the biggest problems the Knicks faced last season was having a weak bench. Olbrich could be a piece that strengthens their bench down the line.
