On Wednesday night, the New York Knicks are set to make their return to the NBA Finals for the first time since 1999, where they’re set to take on the San Antonio Spurs, the team that beat them during that meeting at the turn of the century.
The Spurs are led by Victor Wembanyama, who has been a handful for each of the front courts that he’s had to deal with throughout the Spurs’ journey to the finals. In New York, the French phenom is slated to go against Karl-Anthony Towns and Mitchell Robinson.
While Towns has been the starter in Mike Brown’s system, Robinson has been a menace off the bench for New York, averaging 5.3 points and 5.5 rebounds across his 13 playoff appearances this season.
But the 28-year-old’s playoff hopes had taken a sharp turn in late May, when it was revealed that Robinson had suffered from a broken pinkie, which was originally set to cast doubts on his availability for the finals.
But in recent days, it was reported that the Knicks' backup big man would play through the injury, which was later reported to be a fractured right 5th metacarpal in his right hand, which is what the NBA injury report has it chalked down to.
Will Robinson suit up for Game 1?
Mitchell Robinson is playing, Knicks say.

The Knicks are set to take on the Spurs for the opening match of the NBA Finals on Wednesday night, with tip-off from the Frost Bank Center slated for 8:30 p.m. EST.
