Knicks may cut ties with Karl-Anthony Towns in favor of $60 million star

The New York Knicks didn't use Karl-Anthony Towns down the stretch of their second consecutive playoff loss to the Pacers.

They haven't been able to figure out their best lineup this postseason, with the success of center Mitchell Robinson off the bench confusing things amid terrible struggles when New York's starting five is in the game together.

One sports commentator thinks that it's all going to come to a head this offseason.

Somebody's gotta go sounds about right at this point. New York could opt to keep the cheaper Mitchell Robinson for the remainder of his $60 million contract (one more year) as opposed to three years of paying Towns more than $50 million per season.

The Knicks could certainly change the vibes by turning things around in the Eastern Conference Finals. But if it keeps going this way, there will be calls for major changes.

It's a bit ironic, given New York was never expected to make it past the Celtics a round ago. But now that they're here, Knicks fans want more.

KAT was just traded to the Knicks before this season, so they might be hesitant to move on from him immediately.

But Bomani's got it right: There will be changes if the series feels like this the rest of the way. And if the Knicks want to make a big move, KAT would be the way to do it.
