The Sacramento Kings went all-in on winning now when they made moves for DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine, but it seems like it hasn’t worked out for them. They are 8-26 and in second-to-last place in the West.
With this in mind, it might be time to wave the white flag and start planning a rebuild around their young star, Keegan Murray. Fansided’s Eamon Cassels believes they can do something with the Atlanta Hawks and make a move for their former No. 1 overall pick, Zaccharie Risascher.
The trade would look like this:
Hawks get: PF/C Domantas Sabonis
Mavericks get: SF Zaccharie Risacher, PF/C Kristaps Porzingis
“Sabonis isn't close to the defensive monster that Davis is, but he is three years younger, far healthier, and on a cheaper contract. Young and Sabonis would be an odd fit. Even still, I'm not sure if Young would be involved in this deal, unless it's a bigger trade. A deal centered around Risacher and Kristaps Porziņģis would work financially, though. Perhaps Young gets moved in another trade if the Hawks pursue this hypothetical deal,” Cassels wrote.
This would definitely fill some holes for both teams. The Kings get a wing that they can pair with Keegan Murray as the future core of Sacramento, and a big man that can replace Sabonis in the lineup. The Hawks get a reliable double-double machine to pair with Jalen Johnson, and if they keep Young, create a new Big Three in the East.
There are probably better trades out there, but this one could be an underrated move. All the Kings need to do is pick up the phone and start talking.
