Khris Middleton-Kyle Kuzma trade looks even worse amid Bucks' playoff struggles

3 hours ago 1

During the 2025 NBA trade deadline frenzy, the Milwaukee Bucks surprisingly traded away veteran Khris Middleton. Now, Middleton's name had been in trade circles for some time, but it was a surprise given his long tenure with the franchise.

Middleton was traded to the Washington Wizards as the full deal looked like this:

Bucks receive

  • Kyle Kuzma
  • Patrick Baldwin Jr.
  • Second-round draft compensation

Wizards receive

  • Khris Middleton
  • AJ Johnson
  • Draft pick swap

Months later, this trade is back in the limelight. The Bucks are trailing 3-1 to the Indiana Pacers in the first round of the NBA Playoffs.

Damian Lillard suffered a torn Achilles in Game 4 and is out for most likely the entire 2025-26 NBA season as well. But, the biggest issue is the recent play of Kyle Kuzma, who was the main piece back in the Middleton trade.

Sure, Kuzma played 33 regular season games and averaged 14.5 points per game. But, the former Los Angeles Lakers forward has been nowhere in this series against the Pacers.

Through four games, Kuzma has a grand total of 24 points, so it has been brutal

  • Game 1: 0 points, 0-for-5 from the field
  • Game 2: 12 points, 5-of-10 from the field
  • Game 3: 9 points, 4-of-9 from the field
  • Game 4: 3 points, 1-of-6 from the field

That is, well, not good. Now, more than ever, the Bucks need some help, and Kuzma is nowhere to be seen.
