Kevin Owens has been on an in-ring hiatus for the better part of this year. His last match took place at the Elimination Chamber PLE in Toronto where he faced Sami Zayn in an unsanctioned match in their shared hometown. He recently took to X to send a heartfelt message to the newly crowned United States Champion Carmelo Hayes following his title win.
Kevin was supposed to face Randy Orton at this year's WrestleMania but the match had to be cancelled because Owens came out on SmackDown to reveal that he's not medically cleared for the bout. Randy later ended up facing Joe Hendry at WrestleMania.
On this week's episode of SmackDown, Carmelo Hayes answered Ilja Dragunov's United States Championship Open Challenge. After an intense bout, Hayes defeated Dragunov to win his first singles Championship on the main roster. He took to X to reveal that he felt like the fans were the ones who carried him to the top rope during the closing moments of the match. Owens replied to Hayes' tweet saying his title win was a special moment and he deserved it.
"Special moment. Well-deserved moment. Congrats, man!" He wrote.Fans all around the world are hoping to see Kevin Owens back in the ring soon.
Kevin Owens shared some information about his injury following surgery
Kevin recently made an appearance at a public event where he was asked a question regarding his injury by Scotte Sprinkle of the Short Track Scene. While answering the question, Owens opened up about the actual severity of his injury and revealed that he hopes to return to the ring next year.
"I did get a neck fusion. It was very stressful going into it because we're not really sure how severe the fusion was gonna be and how many levels and all that stuff. Thankfully, it ended up being only one level, which was the best case scenario. Surgery was successful, and my doctor says we have to see how the bones fuse, and there's no guarantee that it's gonna work. It's how my body heals. Some guys were successful.
