The Miami Heat saw the season end at the expense of the Cleveland Cavaliers in a 4-0 sweep in the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs.
The Heat lost badly in Game 4, 138-83, in a non-contest in South Beach. So, the offseason comes earlier than many hoped for, although trading away Jimmy Butler at the deadline was a tough loss.
Recently, rumors swirled about the future of veteran Kevin Love. The former No. 5 overall draft pick began his career with the Minnesota Timberwolves then was LeBron James' teammate with the Cleveland Cavaliers and part of the NBA title team in that 3-1 comeback against the Golden State Warriors.
Then, Love joined the Heat in the middle of the 2022-23 season, although he has seen a decreased role since coming to Miami.
Well, Love made clear his intentions regarding retirement, per Tim Reynolds of The Associated Press.
"Kevin Love has made clear that he is coming back next season, if anyone was wondering about his status going forward."
There it is: Love isn't going anywhere. The veteran played just 23 games this season and did not suit up in the postseason as he dealt with a personal matter involving his father. His dad, Stan Love, passed away on Sunday night, and Love was seen sharing an emotional moment with former teammate Tristan Thompson before Game 4.
