The Houston Texans took a pair of receivers to highlight their 2025 NFL Draft class after trading out of the first round. The Giants gave Houston a package of picks and then used the No. 25 pick to take Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart.
Texans general manager Nick Caserio joined Up & Adams to discuss the draft, and revealed Houston very nearly traded up in the first round.
"It was pretty fluid," Caserio said. "We were kind of moving around. We were scheduled to pick at 25. We had a handful of players during the course of Thursday who we felt comfortable picking... so we tried to move up a little bit, it didn't really work out. I'd say about the 18, 19, 20 range, we started getting some calls about our pick, so we were kind of putting the information up on the board. We had actually three different trade scenarios that were on the board at one time. So, we had trade scenarios. We could have picked a player, obviously you're always prepared to pick a player... after [Minnesota] picked, we were able to consummate the trade with the Giants."
One does have to wonder if the Texans were looking to jump up in the draft to take one of the receivers that went a handful of picks before they were set to be on the clock. Emeka Egbuka went to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at No. 19 overall and Matthew Golden went to the Green Bay Packers with the 21st overall pick.
