Even at age 37, Kevin Durant remains one of the best players in the league. After Durant joined the Houston Rockets, the power massively shifted in the NBA. Although the record so far hasn't been indicative of their domination in the West, in Durant's own words, his off-ball presence has elevated Alperen Sengun's game.
On Wednesday, Durant appeared on "The Pivot" podcast. During the episode, the NBA superstar detailed how his playing next to Sengun had a big impact on the Turkish center's game.
"Last season, Sengun would catch the ball at the top of the key and he'll have a guy up there with him," Durant said. "I was with him last night and I be at the wing. Lot of times, he would have somebody in his lap helping. Now, I am there, this dude is not about to leave me open for a catch and shoot. ...[Sengun] got a little bit of extra space to get some working"•

While it would be hard to deny Kevin Durant's claim, Sengun was already expected elevate his game this season. Since his rookie season, his average points have increased every year. Last season, he averaged 19.1 points per game. This season, he is averaging 23.8 points on 49.2% efficiency from the field including 57.1% from the 3-point line.
However, it has been the $185,000,000 star's [per Spotrac] assists number that has seen the biggest jump. Compared to last season (4.9), he is averaging 7.3 assists per game.
Kevin Durant gives heartfelt apology to an upset fan
Kevin Durant and the Rockets had a comfortable win against the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday. In the 139-121 win, Durant recorded 31 points on 57.9% shooting from the field, including 50.0% from the 3-point line.
However, Durant, who is automatic from the free throw line, made only 62.5% of his attempts and a fan wasn't happy with him. On X, the fan had a stern message for the Rockets star.
"Can you stop missing free throws big bro I really want you to average 30 on 50/40/90 again@KDTrey5."KD replied with a heartfelt apology.
"Great analysis biggest bro. I apologize. I will be even more locked in moving forward. I promise," he replied.Kevin Durant is not alien to the 50-40-90 club. He has already cracked the membership twice in his carrer, in 2012-13 and 2022-23 seasons. He has the most 50-40-90 seasons among active NBA players.
