Wrestling legend William Regal shared some cautionary remarks for wrestlers regarding their long-term health in the aftermath of AEW Worlds End 2025. Now, one of the Jacksonville-based company's top stars, Kenny Omega, has responded to the veteran's comments on social media.
This past weekend at Worlds End, the semifinals and the finals of the 2025 Continental Classic took place. In one of these two semis, Jon Moxley defeated Kyle Fletcher of the Don Callis Family to advance to the last round of the tournament. Their clash saw both stars hit each other with their biggest moves- in one particularly brutal spot, The One True King delivered an avalanche sleeper suplex on The Protostar, that seemed to drop the latter right on his head.
Following on the heels of the pay-per-view, former AEW and current WWE personality William Regal shared a social media post warning wrestlers of the long-term physiological consequences of high-risk, physically demanding spots and bumps. While the timing of his post led many to believe that His Lordship was referencing the suplex from Mox vs Fletcher, and possibly critiquing AEW's style of wrestling, Kenny Omega has now come to the defense of Regal's remarks on X/Twitter.
Emphasizing that the subject in question does not have to involve promotional tribalism, The Cleaner agreed that wrestlers sometimes tend to overlook the safety question while performing, and that they always run the risk of injury for the same reason.
"Regardless of timing or perceived intent, the general message from Mr. Regal remains a positive one. Tribalism, whataboutism, and other ‘isms’ aren’t needed here. Safety often takes a back seat when a wrestler is locked in and actively chasing the dragon. We all sometimes need a voice from afar to tether us back to reality and to tell us that the risks have consequences. The odds aren’t in our favor and none of us will walk away unscathed. This isn’t company vs company or wrestler vs wrestler."The former World Champion also argued that talent need to be responsible and be self-aware about their physical limitations. He continued:
"This is about a general awareness and a knowing that the cost of what we do is directly related to the amount and severity of risk(s) that we take. Keeping that in mind, as athletes, we aren’t all created equally. As responsible adults, we need to be realistic and know our own physical limits. I’d have to give my head a shake if I wanted to try a twisting shooting star, but I’d never say a word to Pac. I look at this all as great food for thought. Something to always be cognizant of. It shouldn’t be about making it a competition. Thank you, Mr. Regal."Regardless of timing or perceived intent, the general message from Mr. Regal remains a positive one. Omega returned to action earlier this year after a long and gruelling recovery from a severe diverticulitis infection.
Kenny Omega teased taking care of unfinished business in AEW
Earlier this month on AEW Dynamite: Holiday Bash, the original iteration of The Elite, comprising of Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks, defeated the Don Callis Family's Hechicero, Kazuchika Okada and Konosuke Takeshita in a trios match with a million dollar cash prize on the line. After the bout, The Rainmaker and The Alpha destroyed Matt and Nick Jackson and bickered among themselves until they were chased off by The Best Bout Machine, wielding a broom.
Later on AEW Dynamite on 34th Street, The Bucks revealed that they were not cleared for the remainder of 2025. Omega commented in response to the situation that while his teammates recover, he will be taking care of some unfinished business. It is not known exactly who he is alluding to, but Kenny could have his sights set on Kazuchika Okada's AEW International Championship, or maybe even on revenge upon Andrade if he returns to the company.
