The Golden State Warriors are 4-1 in the new NBA season after a 98-79 triumph against the LA Clippers on Tuesday. Steve Kerr made a huge statement on his starting lineup and rotation policy with key players going forward.
Jonathan Kuminga, who has always been a bit of a sacrificial lamb among Dubs fans, looks like he has earned the trust of Kerr, starting in all five games of the season so far.
“He'll be our starter going forward, " Kerr said. “He's been fantastic, last night we put him on Ja Morant. Tonight we'll put him on James Harden. I think he's ready to take on that role defensively. And what he's doing offensively, the decision making, the shot selection. You've hardly seen any of the mid-shot clock, 17-foot pull-ups. You're seeing him being much more purposeful, getting the ball to Jimmy, getting the ball to Steph, attacking the rim. He's really putting a lot of pressure on people.”•

Kuminga had a rough time at the franchise, mostly playing the second fiddle off the bench and struggling for consistency. He was the subject of rumors away from the Warriors in the offseason, but none have ever materialized. Instead he opted to return for a fifth season, and he seems to have finally settled in and is now starting to show he is well worth the $46,800,000 (per spotrac) deal he signed for two years.
News of Kerr confirming that Kuminga had nailed down the starting spot has been well received by the Warriors' fans, who took to Twitter to fawn over their team's chemistry and chances this season. Here are some of the reactions:
“Keep cooking Steve Kerr..or whoever suggested this idea to Kerr 😭🔥”
I actually love the rotation right now, starting 5 is cooking in the start of the game/start of the 3rd/end of the game, and for the rest of the game splitting Curry and Jimmy minutes is allowing Jimmy to boost the bench. Really solid lineups from Kerr so far
Kuminga buys in, Kuminga gets rewarded. See how that works? #DubNation
He's playing great defense too, I'm impressed
We better not trade kuminga, this version is exactly what we need for another chip

Jonathan Kuminga Proving Steve Kerr and Warriors Fans Wrong
Steve Kerr once famously told that Jonathan Kuminga was not a guy that he was going to play 38 minutes.
The 23-year-old Congolese forward has since overcome those hurdles to nail down a starting spot this season.
He also endured constant abuse from Warriors fans during a months-long contract saga this offseason. Despite all that, he let his game do the talking, as he's averaging 16.2 points with 53.7 percent shooting, 7.4 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game.
He has also formed an effective combination with Jimmy Butler and Steph Curry, which is one of the reasons he has earned the coaches and players ', and fans' trust. It is a massive leap for him, both personally and professionally; he looks like a different beast altogether, behaving like a man who knows what is at stake.
Only time will tell how his Warriors career pans out, but what is certain is that the pressure to maintain the form throughout the season and that there will be doubters. Thankfully for him, he seems ready to prove them wrong.
