The Minnesota Vikings felt like a team of destiny at times last season before the wheels fell completely off both in the regular-season finale and wild-card round of the playoffs.
With phenom quarterback prospect J.J. McCarthy set to take the reins in 2025, the Vikings have one prominent sportscaster firmly in their corner ahead of the NFL’s official schedule release.
Kay Adams doesn’t only predict that Minnesota will return to the postseason in McCarthy’s first season as the starter — she has them winning the Super Bowl despite some long odds.
“No, back to back (international) games aren’t an excuse for the Vikings to not win a Super Bowl,” Adams wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “It’s a reason they better.”
Adams has not backed off her take, which came during a sit down with Chris Simms on the Up and Adams Show. She described how McCarthy won her over and turned her into an instant fan when she interviewed the 22-year-old star during the NFLPA Classic golf event in Mayakoba, Mexico, earlier this year.=
What's the excuse for the Vikings to not? https://t.co/Hxct9rxT4a
— Kay Adams (@heykayadams) May 12, 2025Picking Minnesota to win the Super Bowl may feel like a hotter take than it actually is.
While the Vikings have a de facto rookie quarterback this year and haven’t won a playoff game since 2019, they are absolutely loaded from top-to-bottom thanks to GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah’s work over the last two free agency cycles. Add in their elite coaching — Kevin O’Connell and Brian Flores are two of the best in the business on each side of the football — and the Vikings belong on the short list of contenders coming off a 14-3 season.

Adams has probably earned herself some Vikings fans this week. When pushed by a listener about her take, her response was perfect: “great offensive mind, cast on offense, Jefferson in his prime, rebuilt OL, aggressive defense .. What are we doing??”
