The former Canadian Prime Minister and his “California Gurl” are still going strong.
Justin Trudeau was first linked to Katy Perry in the summer of 2025 following their respective splits from Sophie Grégoire Trudeau and Orlando Bloom.
The unlikely couple were briefly “Hot N Cold” before hard-launching their romance.
Neither have spoken out in detail about their relationship.
However, the duo have made repeated headlines for PDA, from making out on Perry’s yacht to holding hands at Coachella.

August 2023: Trudeau’s marriage ends

Justin and Sophie released a statement announcing their separation in August 2023 after 18 years of marriage and three children — Xavier, Ella-Grace and Hadrien.
“After many meaningful and difficult conversations, we have made the decision to separate,” the exes wrote. “As always, we remain a close family with deep love and respect for each other and for everything we have built and will continue to build.
“For the wellbeing of our children, we ask that you respect our and their privacy,” they concluded.
July 2025: Perry and Bloom call off engagement
After weeks of split speculation, Perry and Bloom confirmed in July 2025 that they were no longer walking down the aisle.
Reps for the former couple, who got engaged on Valentine’s Day in 2019, wrote, “[They] have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on coparenting [daughter Daisy].
“They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is — and always will be — raising their daughter with love, stability and mutual respect,” the statement concluded.
July 2025: Swanky dinner date
Trudeau and Perry were spotted together in Montreal in July 2025 while dining at Le Violon and taking a stroll at Mount Royal Park.
They met at an event weeks prior, the US Sun reported at the time.
“They are two people who really enjoy chatting about different topics, and they click very well so far,” the outlet claimed. “They are going to see each other again very soon.”
July 2025: Trudeau attends Perry’s concert
Later that same week, the politician brought his daughter to Perry’s “Lifetimes” tour stop in Montreal.
Trudeau was photographed smiling up at the Bell Centre stage with the teenager at his side during the July 2025 concert.
He cut a casual figure in a black T-shirt.
August 2025: Pumping the brakes
The Daily Mail reported in August 2025 that Trudeau’s connection with Perry had already “waned” after “nonstop” texting the previous month.
“She’s busy, he’s busy,” a source said. “They have a lot going on, and the newness has worn off. But there’s nothing negative about it. They just aren’t in constant communication anymore. That could change, but for now, it is what it is. It has cooled off.”
The insider noted that Trudeau had been “overwhelm[ed]” by their romance becoming a “huge thing” in the headlines, which was “not what he … wanted.”
September 2025: Making it official
The following month, however, Trudeau and Perry got hot and heavy on the Grammy nominee’s yacht off the coast of Santa Barbara, California.
The PDA pics went viral in October 2025.
Trudeau grabbed Perry’s backside in the steamy snaps as the songwriter cuddled up to her partner in a one-piece swimsuit.
October 2025: Public appearance in Paris
Trudeau helped Perry ring in her 41st birthday in Paris in October 2025.
The duo attended a cabaret show at the Crazy Horse at the time, walking out of the venue hand-in-hand.
The birthday girl stunned in a red gown and was all smiles with Trudeau, who suited up for the occasion.
December 2025: Instagram hard launch
Perry posted Trudeau to her Instagram feed for the first time in December 2025 while documenting their Tokyo trip.
During the getaway, the couple were spotted holding hands heading to dinner at Asakusa Sumo Stable Annex.
They also met with Japan’s former prime minister Fumio Kishida and his wife, YukoKishida, during the vacation.
January 2026: Ringing in the holidays
Perry and Trudeau went on to spend the “holidaze” together for the first time.
The performer gave a glimpse of their festivities via Instagram, including a PDA photo of herself kissing her boyfriend’s cheek on a boat.
In another shot, Trudeau swam with a smile.
January 2026: Traveling across the pond
Trudeau and Perry jetted off to Switzerland together in January 2026.
They attended the World Economic Forum in Davos.
At the time, the pop star swapped out her signature colorful clothing for a conservative beige skirt and cardigan set.
April 2026: Cozying up at Coachella
Perry and Trudeau ventured to Indio, California, in April 2026 for Weekend One of the Coachella music festival.
The “Thinking of You” crooner posted about the outing via Instagram, from them holding hands to dancing together to Justin Bieber’s set.
It was a busy weekend for the couple, who also stepped out to attend a Netflix party the previous day — and chanced a run-in with Bloom at the star-studded bash.
