The gold medal belongs to Jutta Leerdam.

Merel had already written, “Our hearts will never forget this moment.” She also declared, “Her dream. Our pride.”

Beaudine added her own burst of emotion. “My sis did that!!! Can’t even describe how incredibly proud I am of you!”

Jutta’s own words added even more weight.

“I never felt the need to prove anything,” she wrote. “I did this for me, my younger self, my family and for all women who don’t want to be put in a box and just want to be their authentic selves…you can be soft and strong, disciplined and feminine, all at once. Never let anyone dim your light.”
