Bo Nix has attained something for the first time in his career: division champion.
On Saturday, the second-year quarterback's Denver Broncos clinched the AFC West at 13-3 after the Los Angeles Chargers lost 20-16 against the Houston Texans. It marks the Colorado-based franchise's first division title since 2015, in what turned out to be the final season for Hall of Famer Peyton Manning.
In the aftermath, some fans chose to mock his counterpart Justin Herbert for being beaten by a relative neophyte:

Bo Nix has won a division title in 2 years. Something the most overrated QB in the league Justin Herbert has never done nor will he ever while Nix and Mahomes are in the division. 😂😂😂
Chargers are terrible, and Justin Herbert is wildly overrated.
Bo Nix (Year 2) has won an AFC WEST title before Justin Herbert (Year 6). Do you know how embarrassing that is for him?
Kinda funny that Bo Nix has more AFC West titles in 2 seasons than Justin Herbert has in 6
bo nix is just so much better than justin herbert. bo is a AFC west champion.
Throughout the 2025 season, Nix has been stellar, completing 63.5% of his attempts for 3,790 yards, 25 touchdowns against 11 interceptions, and a passer rating of 88.2. He has also shown prowess on the ground, carrying the ball 75 times for 307 yards and five scores.
During his last game on Christmas, however, he was not his usual reliable self, covering just 182 yards and throwing a touchdown and an interception apiece in a 20-13 win at the Kansas City Chiefs. After the game, he praised Steve Spagnuolo for trying to contain him with the two-high zone scheme that put both safeties well deep in the field:
“It’s the exact opposite of what I thought we were gonna get. I thought they were gonna pressure us like crazy. ... So, you just gotta inch your way down the field. And I think, obviously, the plays we scored on, they were longer drives — lot of plays. We just did what we had to do.”Bo Nix shares thoughts on Chargers matchup in season finale
While next week's rematch against the Chargers will have no more bearing, Bo Nix is still wary of what his opponents will bring.
He is 0-3 against the franchise, but he will have a massive opportunity to beat them for the first time: at home, in front of some of the loudest fans in the league. After the win at the Chiefs, he said:
"[The Chargers] are going to be a good football team. ... We are excited to have them at home. It is going to be a really good environment and atmosphere. It is honestly playoff atmosphere. It is going to be tough."In his first meeting with the Chargers this season, Nix had just 153 yards and a touchdown in a 23-20 loss that marked the Broncos' second straight. After that, however, they went on an eleven-win streak that was ended only by the Jacksonville Jaguars on December 21.
