An eight-time WWE Tag Team Champion will never lace up his wrestling boots again. Mick Foley recently set the record straight on his wrestling future.
The Attitude Era star has been the talk of the town since leaving the Stamford-based promotion, citing its political leanings and ties to Donald Trump.
Foley informed the company that he would not be renewing his Legends deal when it expires in June next year. He has no desire to represent WWE as long as Donald Trump remains in the office.
In the wake of his controversial departure, Mick Foley opened up about backtracking on his decision to have one more match on his 60th birthday this year.
Speaking on a panel at FanX Salt Lake City 2025, the Hall of Famer said he would have risked his health had he stepped out of retirement.
"I was thinking of doing a last match for my 60th birthday, which has come and gone, and so I didn’t do it. Sometimes discretion is the better part of valor, and I really thought if I do some of the things I want to do in this match, I will completely mess up my hip and knee replacement."Foley clarified that he will never have another wrestling match.
"I remember how painful it was to walk for like 10 years before I got that. I don’t want to go back there — not for any match or any amount of money."Top AEW star pitched to face WWE legend Mick Foley
WWE icon Mick Foley expressed his desire to get in the ring with AEW star MJF.
In an interview with Inside The Ropes, Foley revealed that he held talks with The Salt of the Earth and discussed the idea of him attacking his son, which would have led to the Hardcore legend's in-ring return.
"The first person I called was MJF because we had a top secret meeting at a Long Island Steakhouse, and he laid out six weeks of beautiful television,” Foley said. “You know the promo, Cane Dewey? [MJF] was literally going to Cane Dewey. He was going to beat up my son on television, and I was going to come back looking for vengeance."Unfortunately, the plans fell through due to Foley's health condition, and his plans to come out of retirement after 13 years remained wishful thinking.
