Huge announcement made on Mercedes Mone's immediate AEW future after she loses at Worlds End 2025

Mercedes Mone unfortunately fell short in her title match at AEW Worlds End 2025. Now, it has been announced that The CEO will be defending one of her many championships this coming week on Dynamite.

Mercedes Mone and Athena were eliminated at the quarterfinal stage of the AEW Women's World Tag Team Championship tournament by the underdog pairing of Willow Nightingale and Harley Cameron. The Babes of Wrath proceeded to become the first-ever holders of the belts, but soon after capturing the titles, the duo suffered a pinfall loss at the hands of "Ultimo" Mone and The Fallen Goddess during a multi-person tag bout.

In the aftermath, Mercedes and Athena called out Harley and Willow to defend their tag belts against them at Worlds End 2025. Despite pushing the champions to their limits, Mone and The "Forever" ROH Women's Champion were unable to unseat The Babes of Wrath, who retained the AEW Women's Tag Titles after Nightingale pinned the erstwhile Sasha Banks. Mercedes was caught having a violent backstage meltdown in response to the loss, and issued a warning to The Babe with The Power for this coming Wednesday.

Now it has been confirmed that Mone will be defending her TBS Championship against Willow Nightingale at Dynamite: New Year's Smash.

Mercedes Mone could be looking at further title losses in AEW

Despite having been a dominant, globe-travelling champion for the past couple of years, Mercedes Mone's championship collection has taken somewhat of a hit recently. At the start of December in ROH Final Battle, The CEO lost her ROH Women's World Television Championship to Red Velvet. Almost two weeks later, on AEW Collision: Holiday Bash, she was unseated by Alex Windsor as the RevPro Undisputed British Women's Champion.

Considering that Mone's TBS Title reign began at the expense of Willow Nightingale's, it remains to be seen if the Conglomeration member will be taking back the belt from Mercedes this coming week.
