NFL fans were upset about CBS reporter Jonathan Jones's clickbait about Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow's trade. The reporter shared an article on X (formerly Twitter) with a title that implied multiple NFL teams are expected to pursue a trade for Joe Burrow this offseason aggressively, and that the Bengals may consider moving him.
"The Bengals should be prepared for teams to call plenty this spring in an attempt to trade for Joe Burrow," Jones tweeted on Saturday.•

"Unserious hit piece. Just another propaganda push to create clicks and another attempted hit on Bengals. Will never understand. Here are some more reactions from fans.
"It’s non-news season!" one fan said. "Your December clicks must be down," another fan said. "And they will be prepared to hang up," one fan said.Burrow signed a record-setting five year, $275 million contract extension with the Bengals on Sept. 9, 2023. The deal averages about $55 million per year and made him one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in the NFL. He received $219.01 million in guaranteed money, with $146.51 million fully guaranteed at signing.
The extension runs through the 2029 season, tying him to Cincinnati long-term and including a no-trade clause. After 2029, if no new deal is reached, the Bengals can also use the franchise tag on Burrow up to three times.
Joe Burrow reflects on the injury-hit season
Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow has spent much of the 2025 season sidelined with a turf toe injury that kept him out for nearly 10 weeks. Speaking on his 29th birthday, Burrow admitted that the season has taken a toll on him mentally and physically, even after throwing four touchdowns against the Bills in his return.
“If I want to keep doing this, I have to have fun doing it,” Burrow said. “I have been through a lot. If it’s not fun, then what am I doing it for?”Burrow said there was no single breaking point.
“It’s just reflection,” he added. “I’ve been through more than most, and it’s certainly not easy on the brain or the body."Burrow will hope for a better season next year, but it is clear that the Bengals will not trade Burrow, and Burrow doesn't want to leave.
